Byrnes H.S., SC I just don't know how much confidence I have yet. Coming off of last year's weird transitional season for JFB, I really need to see how they rebound. I know they are way ahead of last year's terribly late schedule, along with some good staff additions, so there is a lot of optimism right now. But until I see something concrete, I would probably have JFB behind Harrison tbh. Also, NaFo does well in BOA events...could be a sleeper for second/third.

1. Lakota East, OH - Forever2. Dobyns-Bennett, TN 3. James F. Byrnes, SC - Headlines*double checks that I read that right* Now, I know the Lakota's are some really great programs who are on a noticeable rise.... but I'm not sure if they can go from squeezing into semis in 2022 to casually beating a consistent Grand Nats Finalist just two years later...!

I'm just manifesting something fun and exciting like when Fort Mill beat Dobyns-Bennett and almost lost to James F. Byrnes in 2017 or even when Cleveland beat Dobyns-Bennett twice in captions, it's all fun guys. Plus, this is an early regional we've never seen Dobyns-Bennett this early in a long time.

I think 2-9 could really go a couple of different ways! It will be quite an interesting show.
About a decade ago DB used to stall out because their shows were too easy for them. 2016/ but really 2017 that changed. They used to peak pretty early, but now they peak late and have had one of the latest competitive starts of any band in the nation!

I think 2-9 could really go a couple of different ways! It will be quite an interesting show. I second this. I had whipped out predictions in my notes and was having a difficult time as there are so many high caliber bands attending, along with many different narratives (e. multiple grand nats seasons for presumed finalists, Evansville North returning after winning last year, Sparkman coming off of a strong season, etc) Now with NaFo attending and a pretty full list, I can’t really say for sure what I think can happen. Spots 2-9ish all have rather historical or current momentum behind them and it WILL be a tight race for those top placements. It’s hard to imagine a band like Franklin placing bottom half but that’s just the stakes this year. I will say, if statechamp1239 ‘s prediction comes true… I will very much be the loudest person in the stadium come the first place announcement. Honestly I’d be a changed man- no need for steak though, I’ll have a celebratory dinner at Skyline Chili once I drive back 😉

Don't underestimate North! They won this regional last year! They also won ISSMA Class B state marching band championships, and for the first time in history, they made ISSMA State concert band finals. Only time will tell though.

I could maybe see them around 5 ish but last year the regional was earlier and didn't have as many heavy hitters. I don't personally see them making it any higher than where most have them placed.

I feel like August is flying by... anyone know what the DB competitive show is this year? Judging by their purposefully soft year last year, I'd assume with the long season they will be attempting something much harder than last season.
This will be a really fascinating show to scope out September videos and see who is coming out guns blazing as it seems bands from the southeast peak later and later nowadays.
In South Carolina Nation Ford started the school very early this year in order to finish the semester by the holidays, not sure if that will help or hurt them here since they had an earlier band camp. Looks like Byrnes started pretty early too.
