The American Fork singer still worries me with such a predominet part she has. It is what it is at this point What I have noticed is that at her first performance at a larger venue, she tends to have some stage fright, and then in subsequent runs she seems to do well, so I'm predicting she'll struggle in Prelims and then kill it in Semis and hopefully Finals

Watch for a schedule change for Thursday. The rumored 114th group appears ready to be added at 7:00 a.m. with everyone else moving 15 minutes later. I was told MFA made the conscious decision to only update schedules when they publish the "final" schedule during show week. As we have seen, it is still possible to see another update to "final V2." Just when I was preemptively mourning the sleep I was going to lose on Thursday night with the tight turnaround between Thursday evening and Friday morning, it seems I am going to lose 15 more minutes than originally thought. On the other hand, more band!

I find this statement to be accurate. I have found that shows on the more boring side that have high execution score higher than those that more difficult and more interesting.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the Carolina groups. Hoping they do very well here. I second that. I'm particularly interested as to where Bartlett, Catawba Ridge, and Panther Creek will land.

If Thursday goes 15 minutes later, that's 15 minutes less sleep on Thursday night for those who depart LOS based on the end of the show for the day.

I actually wish I could volunteer, but I still fear that my medical condition would be too limiting.

Looks like there’s thirty minutes allotted for IPS and a fifteen minute break afterwards. Only the bands performing before IPS should be bumped up, the rest should stay the same?

Get in early and volunteer to be the Director Viewing Area Monitor. Great spot to watch the bands and not much physical effort required.

O'Fallon Township at 12:15. That is a 15 minute show break at 12:00. The next scheduled break is between Avon (8:00) and Centerville (8:30). Unless they completely eliminate the short break following the IPS Showcase, the whole day will need to shift later to maintain the planned breaks.

My first thought would have been that they’d just eliminate the break. Cause really, what’s the point of two 15-minute breaks during a 16-hour day? If they want 114 bands, commit to the bit lol.

Speaking of sleep schedules - MFA has posted a template for semifinals performance times.
The LAST competing band in semifinals will take the field no later than 4:15 p.m., regardless of the number of semifinalists (it COULD be earlier if enough small school bands advance among the top 30).
If there are 1-4 class-only advancers, the first performing band in semifinals will take the field at 7:00 a.m. Each additional class-only advancer will make the first band's time earlier. If there are as many as eight class-only advancers (like 2019), the first band will perform at 6:00 a.m.

I really would make a top to bottom prediction for about half of the top bands coming to GN this year. But honestly, I really am not sure how the finals bubble and semis bubble will shake out.
I could see the Texas contingent being just as strong as the Indiana one - it really will be interesting!

Anyone know if the Volunteer information packets for this weekend have been sent out yet? My wife and I have volunteered for Grand Nats since 2010 and signed up again for this year, but haven't received anything yet.
Anyway, just checking since it's only a few days away.

There are a lot of bubble bands at this competition making it so hard to be able to predict results but one band a lot of people have been sleeping on is o’fallon. I love their show this year and the music and visual design are so different than what they have done in previous years and they have had a lot of time to clean up from BOA STL so I have faith in them!

Send me a DM with the accomodations you would need and I might be able to find you a slot - we have a variety....

The American Fork singer still worries me with such a predominet part she has. It is what it is at this point I’m really not a fan of singing in shows. However, there have been a few exceptions for me. The girl from Cedar Ridge (years ago), Sophie Rheinhart, Castle. Tarpon Springs has had a few. The best was the guy from Blue Springs several years ago.

But if they're average or inconsistent it can be a huge risk depending on the panel.
