It will be interesting with Avon with them closing all of the schools until March 20th because of the CVOID-19 cases. The School District cancelled all practices as well. Then the week of March 23rd is Spring Break. Avon will not be holding any rehearsals or attending any competitions until at least March 21. That means the guard will not be competing at the Mid East Power Regional this weekend, nor will the percussion group be competing at the Indy Regional.

And the fans! Very sad!! The first practice day they are allowed back is march 21st...same day as Indiana State Finals. But in the grand scheme of things as wonderful as it is to win....it's also about having fun. And whatever the scores or places are, I hope they can have fun at least a little bit more this season .

Do you know if Avon is still planning to host one of the IPA State Prelims on the 21st? Apparently IHSCGA has suspended the rest of their season. Wow what a short season, I really feel for the kids right now especially the seniors. Hopefully theyβll have some sort of parent night or friends and family to give them almost a βfinal closureβ performance of the season. Truly upsetting.

Last minute, but Dartmouth HS's Open guard is doing a live stream of their performance on their Facebook page momentarily. It's under Dartmouth School Music Association.

So my band is on their way to Orlando now.... and their plans are all messed up now. Instead of staying in Orlando until Monday night/early Tuesday morning, getting to experience BOTH Disney and Universal Studios with a parade and clinic, the clinic is now cancelled and no Universal Studios. They are now leaving late Sunday/ early Monday. Glad they didnβt have to turn around because that would have been a horrible ride home but maybe it would have been for the best. Hope they still find a way to have a blast, and maybe this means the lines will be nonexistent π
So far we have plans to return to school next week (itβs currently spring break for us) but the district will be discussing plans tomorrow from what Iβm told. Things are changing really fast around the world.
By the way, if you havenβt pressured figured it out, Iβm NOT a part of the Disney trip.

At least WGI just extended eligibility for members of all Independent groups for the 2021 season! I know that doesn't help high school seniors, but at least it gives our independents another year to compete if they were supposed to age out this season.

Was thinking a lot about the activity last weekend and the "could have been" elements of 2020's season. Here's what I came up with: - Center Grove trying to get their first official win in Scholastic World (their 1990 and 1986 wins were in Scholastic Open and 1984 was just "Scholastic" class, the highest levels of competition at the time) with a very demanding show. At the very least, they probably would have gotten a silver medal, which they've done six other times in their history.
- Trumbull attempting their first win. They were off to a tremendous start, and have been near the top for a few years now.
- The battle of the California powerhouses, both Diamante and Imbue attempting their first win. Of course, some others (Onyx, Paramount, Inspire in their first year) might have something to say about that, but both Diamante and Imbue were having incredible, transformative years. Imbue was attacking their show with a swagger I haven't seen since James Logan of the early 2000s.
- Paramount and AMP battling for fan favorite in IW.
- Ben Davis attempting their first win in Open with what I felt was a world class design, and Decatur Central fighting for a medal. We could have possibly seen an entirely Indiana top 3 SW and two in the top 3 in SO this year also from Indiana.
- Palm Desert Charter Middle School attempting to not only be the first middle school in WGI finals, but also attempting to win a medal in their first appearance.
Any other thoughts or videos to share from this year?

In Indiana, Pendleton Heights self-promoted to Open after not even advancing out of prelims last year. Pendleton Heights was on a very sure route of possibly earning a medal right behind Decatur Central and Ben Davis. On top of an exceptionally beautiful show dedicated to the color guard director's parents, whom both had passed within a year of each other IIRC.

Having a mother's night of insomnia and I went through and watched all the shows posted earlier when the season was cancelled. I so enjoyed watching them all! So bummed at the shortened season and I wish the kids all had had time to finish and clean up their shows. Hopefully I won't get in trouble for this... but thought I'd share TWHS World guard's last 2020 performance at WGI Austin. (and hopefully this works... I may need some help if it doesn't)
