That would be my guess. A lot of groups are probably focusing on getting back into a groove and settling back into a rhythm. Which honestly is probably a good idea. Still, unfortunate as they are generally a pretty decent band.

I’ll bite.

1. Carmel H.S., IN — Great design with an even better sound. If it weren’t for the Great Texas Migration 2.0, I could see them taking that Eagle in November.
2. Avon H.S., IN — Haven’t heard much from them this season but they’re basically equal to Carmel, we really won’t know which one of them will prevail over the other until Saturday afternoon. Oh well, still have my bets on Carmel.
3. William Mason H.S., OH — As a HUGE Mason fan I am hoping they continue to give us an amazing performance at this regional (and nats). With that being said, I could definitely see Homestead taking them over.
4. Homestead H.S., IN — Idk what they’re feeding the Homestead woodwind section but good lord they are TALENTED. What a beast of a show, hoping they medal here but I could see them in any place from 3rd to 6th.
5. Fishers H.S., IN — I think we can all agree that Fishers’ band program has been on an upwards trajectory over the 2010’s, and I don’t expect that to stop now. Although it may slow down due to COVID, I definitely see Fishers as a GN Finals lock by the end of the decade.
6. Castle H.S., IN — WHAT A SHOW. My goodness where has this Castle been? Although the band can always put on a show, we all know their 2018 & 19 show design was not on par with 2016 & 17. 2021 is completely different. Whereas 2016 & 17 were emotionally moving, Menlo Park is exciting, chaotic (in a good way) and keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout the show. Seeing it live at Clarksville was one of the best Castle performances I’ve ever witnessed (with a trumpet soloist on par with Hebron 2015’s tenor sax!) With enough cleaning, I could see Castle placing anywhere from 4th-6th here (no medal, unfortunately).
7. Center Grove H.S., IN — Sorta skeptical of placing CG this high after a questionable 2019 GN performance and then a year off, but I’m willing to bet they’re bounced back from that loss as opposed staying on a decline. I say that, but you never know. It is not uncommon for us to see top tier GN Finals bubble bands (Marian, PCEP, etc) “die off” in the span of 2-3 years.
8. Owasso H.S., OK — Haven’t heard much from them either, but based on their BOA past performances they’re the “wild card” of this even imo. If they’re good enough, I could see a medal. If COVID affected Owasso as much as it has some smaller bands (in a negative way), I could see them as a finals bubble band. Like I said, wild card.
9. Lawrence Township, IN — Lawrence Township is always very theatrical with their shows, which seems to be “trendy” in a way this year, so I think they’re definitely a lock for finals. Where they place, I couldn’t tell you. Imo, most likely in the bottom half of the top 10.
10. Brownsburg H.S., IN — WHAT A SHOW (the sequel). As I was watching Brownsburg perform that insane show, they looked (and sounded) like COVID didn’t affect the band at all. From what I’ve seen in ‘19 & ‘21, Brownsburg is on the track to become the next Homestead/Fishers
11. Franklin H.S., TN — Franklin’s 2021 production is a full 180 compared to their 2019 show. Although the design is similar, the students look like they feel more comfortable with this style (theatrical), as opposed to to any of their pre-2019 productions (more DCI based). If only they could find their sound, I would have them in the top 10. They did receive early feedback though so I am hoping they are able to clean some before Indy.
12. North Hardin H.S., KY — Hebron 2019 says hi . Dare to Dream is strikingly similar to Among the Stars in every aspect, but North Hardin seems to be having trouble with their size, sound and look. Similar to most other KY bands, NH seemingly took a hit in size over 2020 (something I expect to become more commonly noticed as the season progresses). They still have an amazing sound, and their Clarksville scores weren’t TERRIBLE, but I do feel like some cleaning is needed (especially visually [then again, what’s new. NH has a bad relationship with visual judges]). Nevertheless, I am very excited to hear their closer and LOVE a good Greatest Showman - Impossible Dream mashup.
13. Centerville H.S., OH — Although we haven’t seen much of them yet, CVille tends to peak in November, and they don’t exactly have the BEST track record at Indy. Although I do expect them to be a solid Semi contender in November, I just don’t know if they’ll be clean enough by the 23rd to oust other local powerhouses like North Hardin, Franklin, and Brownsburg
14. Ben Davis H.S., IN — This spot is such a tossup imo. I didn’t exactly know WHO to put here, but I have been impressed by Ben Davis in the past so I expect them to do well here (top 20 at least). This is honestly the only spot I am unsure about, as I’m 98% positive bands 1-13 will advance to finals. Ben Davis looked clean at 2019 Semis and sounds decent this year, which is why I’m putting them in 14th. Then again, any number of bands could steal this spot in a quick second and I wouldn’t be surprised!!

P.S., I know this is super long LOL, but Hello Forums!! This is my first post, but I am not new to Hornrank. I used to have an another account here where I posted regularly pre-covid; but I have forgotten both the username and password. Nevertheless, I am so glad to be back and more excited than ever to watch some marching band!!

Man Franklin has to be one of my favorite programs out there. I remember our bands meeting at Clarksville in 2018 and then later at another competition in 2019 and they had to have been some of the most friendly people on the planet. I was disappointed with how their 2019 season turned out with the staff change and all, especially in comparison with that amazing 2018 show. However I will say that I am thoroughly impressed that they're staying with their style and developing it more this season. I can't really see them being a GN finalist band anytime soon, but I could definitely see them entering the level of bands like Fishers and Camdenton and then going from there.

As for the actual Indy Super Regional, I don't think they'll be able to creep into the top half but I think they'll get closer than what most people are predicting. I'd probably say they have the potential for 8th at the highest and 11th at the lowest based on their performance at Clarksville.
