Has anyone seen or heard anything from Avon? The suspense is killing me, and I've been dying to know how they are holding up this season!!

Current Predictions:
1. Carmel H.S., IN 2. Avon H.S., IN 3. William Mason H.S., OH 4. Homestead H.S., IN 5. Castle H.S., IN 6. Owasso H.S., OK 7. Fishers H.S., IN 8. Brownsburg H.S., IN 9. Center Grove H.S., IN 10. Franklin H.S., TN 11. Centerville H.S., OH 12. North Hardin H.S., KY 13. Lawrence Township H.S., IN 14. Choctaw H.S., OK
Watch out for Choctaw this year! It's looking like they could squeeze into finals. Owasso is also on their game. I wouldn't be surprised to see them in top 6

There are 63 bands enrolled. This is just under the limit for going to two panels, so the top 14 bands across the full schedule will advance to finals. A separate panel will be used for finals (ostensibly, this indicates that there will be a single panel for prelims - the reality remains to be seen). That stinks that there will only be 14 bands in the finals. Since some of the regular finalists are missing, I was hoping some of the fringe bands who were just outside the top 20 the past few years would get a chance to make it into the finals.

Indy super usually has 14 bands advance to finals, like in St. Louis and San Antonio. I forget what the magic enrollment number is for super regionals, but when Atlanta was a thing it had aroud 40 bands every year and only 12 bands advanced to finals.

I'll take a shot at some (wild/crazy/hopeful) predictions: 14. Plainfield North H.S., IL That right there would be the shock of all shocks, as I think they've crossed 75 once at a BOA event.

I'm ready to see how wrong I am with this lol:
1.) Carmel (Music/GE) 2.) Avon (Visual) 3.) William Mason 4.) Castle 5.) Homestead 6.) Fishers 7.) Brownsburg 8.) Owasso 9.) Franklin 10.) Centerville 11.) Lawrence Township 12.) Center Grove 13.) North Hardin 14.) Goshen
Really rooting for Brownsburg here! I am beyond impressed with their recent rise and am loving their show this year! I think Goshen definitely has the potential to sneak into finals too. I remember enjoying watching their 2018 show at Lucas Oil and with them already off to a strong start this season, things are definitely looking up for them. I'm also hoping that Franklin cracks the top 10!

Center Grove, IN Music: Carmel, IN Visual: Avon, IN GE: Carmel, IN Choctaw in 11th is really bold considering the highest they've placed at OBA in the past 5 years is 9th. They are doing good this year and I have them in my finals predictions, but 11th would be really shocking! I hope they do score that high though. It's always exciting to see more Oklahoma bands place high at BOA competitions

I mean… they’re a bubble band here at best. Definitely top 20, but they’ll be lucky to place 14th come Saturday evening. Also, I have issues with CVille being that high this early in the season AND Center Grove/Owasso being below NH & MPLT. But maybe you’re right. I sorta hope so; boy do these forums need a plot twist

Adjudication Panel:
Music: Levi Chavis, Glenn Fugett, Don Hill, Nola Jones*, Matt McCready, Jason Robb, David Vandewalker. Visual: William Chumley, Curtis Costanza, Michael Gray, Austin Greene, John Howell, and Tim Ochran*. *chief judges
Two chief judges are listed, which presumably means one chief judge for prelims and one for finals. They are one visual judge short of a full panel, so I would expect one more judge added to the panel. Or perhaps someone is pulling double duty?
EDIT: Tim Ochran is a visual judge, oops, so they are one music judge short.

Chip Crotts is now listed as a prelims music judge on the Director's Area judges bios. Matt McCready is now only listed under finals.

Seeing as the predictions will once again start to ramp up, just thought I'd share a quick thing I've done. I went ahead and took the posted results from Indiana's Regionals this past weekend and converted some of the scores for bands challenging for State into the BOA rubric. Essentially, I doubled the Music GE score and then averaged the Ind and Ens Music scores. Obviously this is just for fun and a reminder that these groups participated at two different venues with different panels. Just some fun stuff to consider is all! Plus, not all of these groups will be participating at the Indy Super either.
92 - Carmel 89.55 - Avon 87 - Castle 85.15 - Fishers 84.95 - Homestead 84.75 - Carroll 84.3 - Brownsburg 81.6 - Center Grove 81.25 - Goshen 80.8 - Noblesville -------------------- 80.05 - Franklin Central 80.05 - Floyd Central 79.5 - MPLT

Really hoping that Brownsburg has a breakout performance at this regional, followed by an even stronger showing at GN. I know it's crazy talk to a lot of people, but after watching their regional performance earlier this season I genuinely think they have a shot at GN finals. I just have a feeling about them this year, similar to Lafayette in 2008. The show gives me very similar vibes, that if performed well on the right stage it could be something really special. Lots of work to get there, but I think they can do it.

And they beat Noblesville straight up a week ago same panel same block at the Center Grove invitational)

Has anyone heard from Centerville and how well they're doing? I know there was that one early season local comp that they won their class in, but I haven't heard anything from them since then (unless I'm just dumb and missed some updates on them from somewhere within the forums). Currently yanking my hair out trying to make predictions lmfao

The folks at BOA say they need more volunteers, especially on Saturday. If you work early in the day, you can stay after to watch. Also, some of the positions do allow you to watch the competition... marching.musicforall.org/volunteer/
