Some results from the north and east are here! Here are the schools advancing to state from Areas B and C. From Area B (Northern DFW):Wakeland H.S. of Frisco ISD (Frisco) - This will be their 8th appearance at state (placed 4th in 2021.)
Lone Star H.S. of Frisco ISD (Frisco) - This will be their 4th appearance at state (placed 16th in 2021.)
McKinney North H.S. of McKinney ISD (McKinney) - This will be their 2nd appearance at state and the first time since 2015 when they placed 16th.
Lebanon Trail H.S. of Frisco ISD (Frisco) - This will be their 3rd appearance at state (placed 15th in 2021.)
From Area C (East Texas):Forney H.S. of Forney ISD (Forney) - This will be their 10th appearance at state (placed 8th in 2021.)
North Mesquite H.S. of Mesquite ISD (Mesquite) - This will be their 1st appearance at state.
Poteet H.S. of Mesquite ISD (Mesquite) - This will be their 17th appearance at state (placed 28th in 2021.)
Pine Tree H.S. of Pine Tree ISD (Longview) - This will be their 2nd appearance at state and the first time since 1985.
Last year's BOA San Antonio SR class AA champion, Argyle, placed 5th in Area B and did not qualify for state. They have been making great strides since becoming 5A and I hope to see more success next week and in future seasons. Also, please congratulate North Mesquite on their first ever state qualification!

Here are the state advancers of the last 3 areas. From Area D (the other Austin/San Antonio):Robert E. Hendrickson H.S. of Pflugerville ISD (Pflugerville) - This will be their 8th appearance at state (placed 10th in 2021.)
Lake Belton H.S. of Belton ISD (Temple) - This will be their 2nd appearance at state and their first in conference 5A (placed 8th in 4A in 2021.)
Pieper H.S. of Comal ISD (San Antonio) - This will be their 1st appearance at state.
Pflugerville H.S. of Pflugerville ISD (Pflugerville) - This will be their 3rd appearance at state and the first time since 2000.
Smithson Valley H.S. of Comal ISD (Spring Branch) - This will be their 2nd appearance at state and the first time since 2001.
From Area F (DFW):Aledo H.S. of Aledo ISD (Aledo) - This will be their 9th appearance at state (placed 7th in 2021.)
Richland H.S. of Birdville ISD (North Richland Hills) - This will be their 8th appearance at state (didn't advance in 2021, placed 6th in 2017.)
Burleson Centennial H.S. of Burleson ISD (Burleson) - This will be their 3rd appearance at state (placed 17th in 2021.)
Birdville H.S. of Birdville ISD (North Richland Hills) - This will be their 8th appearance at state (didn't advance in 2021, placed 15th in 2019.)
From Area G (South Texas):Roma H.S. of Roma ISD (Roma) - This will be their 11th appearance at state (placed 13th in 2021.)
Sharyland H.S. of Sharyland ISD (Mission) - This will be their 5th appearance at state (placed 26th in 2021.)
Pioneer H.S. of Sharyland ISD (Mission) - This will be their 5th appearance at state (placed 23rd in 2021.)
Lopez Early College H.S. of Brownsville ISD (Brownsville) - This will be their 12th appearance at state (placed 29th in 2021.)
James Pace H.S. of Brownsville ISD (Brownsville) - This will be their 3rd appearance at state (didn't advance in 2021, placed 31st in 2019.)
PSJA North H.S. of PSJA ISD (Pharr) - This will be their 1st appearance at state.
Please congratulate Pieper H.S. and PSJA North H.S. on advancing to state for the first time! Pieper has had a strong season so far, having placed 2nd at BOA McAllen. Many schools that didn't advance to state in 2021 but did in 2017 or 2019 are also returning. All 3 Birdville ISD high schools have advanced to state (Haltom advanced to the 6A state contest out of the notoriously competitive Area B.) It is also very nice to see that new schools like Pieper and Lake Belton advanced to state. Unfortunately, two 2021 finalists that were expected to return to state this year, McCallum (Area D) and Colleyville Heritage (Area F and BOA Midland finalist), did not advance. Colleyville Heritage was particularly surprising after having a normal competitive season and placing 3rd in prelims. Azle (Area F) also placed 8th after making finals at BOA Prosper. Brewer (Area F) and Jack C. Hays (Area D) also both placed in the top four last year, so seeing the placements for these two areas has been a bit of an emotional roller coaster.

I am looking at the 6A finals schedule for tomorrow (10/31) and it looks like there are 14 finalist slots, is that new or has it been 14 for a while? I thought it was 12

I thought it was 12 I believe it's been 14 finalists for a while now, at least through my years. I think it's based on how many bands are sent to state, but then again, that's just a theory.

I liked Coppell. I feel like they are having a hard time pushing to the point beyond the achievement levels they have been reaching since 2021. All good shows but they seem to be at the same level year in year out.

My personal rankings so far:
1. Ronald Reagan 2. Wylie 3. Coppell 4. L.D. Bell 5. Timber Creek 6. Dickinson 7. Prosper 8. Claudia Taylor Johnson 9. Klein Oak 10. College Park 11. Wylie East 12. Haltom 13. Obra D. Tompkins 14. Pebble Hills 15. Midland 16. John B. Alexander
Wylie was absolutely stunning, I'll be shocked if they don't perform again tomorrow. Also Midland's show was the most fun I've had watching band probably ever, I don't think I'd ever get tired of it!

For me NFHS is much improved over last year. It’s early but zero issues thus far.

Only gripe with NFHS Network so far (aside from the obvious antiquated mics) are the UIL sponsored commercials. “Hey band nerds do you know anyone interested in a sports medicine scholarship? We could definitely use more athletic trainers!”
We’ll that is how I heard it anyways 😂

I enjoyed Round Rock too. Although trying to discern much musically from NFHS mics is not easy. I think ens visual is a weak point but they are moving a lot.

The Woodlands visuals and music demand are probably the most busy of any program in the country! OMG. Musically and visually they still have a little dirt to clean up but this show is a GE juggernaut! UIL and BOA placements will probably be different. BOA being much higher imo!
I’m still breathless. Amazing job TWHS!

Vista Ridge just plays with such ease and rich tonality. Drill and theming is a little uninspired but it's a nice show with some good music choices. Did they take the guard away from the closer or is the guard really small?
