[Centerville H.S. - Rhapsodic] Rhapsody in Blue [Gershwin] Second Rhapsody (Gershwin) Bohemian Rhapsody [Mercury] Hungarian Rhapsody [Liszt?] Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini [Rachmaninoff] At least that’s what a little birdie told me... Coincidentally...
Grove City HS (Grove City, OH) - Rhapsody Musical selections include: "Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini" (Sergei Rachmaninoff) "A Somerset Rhapsody" (Gustav Holst) "Norfolk Rhapsodies" (Ralph Vaughn Williams) "Rhapsody in Blue" (George Gershwin)
Apparently their repertoire includes eight pieces (and "Freddie Mercury might even make an appearance") which would be unusual for them. In each of the past several season, they have played four tunes. I tend not to like shows with too many songs, which seem disjointed and jumpy to me; I hope they prove me wrong.

Carmel- “Eternal Beloved” Finally some word on Carmel! When I searched their theme up to understand it more two things cane up an obscure Chinese film and something a bit more likely to be related to their show a film called Internally Beloved the plot Google listed for it is shown below “This biography chronicles the life of infamous classical composer Ludwig van Beethoven (Gary Oldman) and his painful struggle with hearing loss. Following Beethoven's death in 1827, his assistant, Schindler (Jeroen Krabbé), searches for an elusive woman referred to in the composer's love letters as "immortal beloved." As Schindler solves the mystery, a series of flashbacks reveals Beethoven's transformation from passionate young man to troubled musical genius.
Not 100% sure about the movies relation to their show though I’ll let someone more cultured take the wheel on this one

Not 100% sure about the movies relation to their show though I’ll let someone more cultured take the wheel on this one The 1994 film is actually titled Immortal Beloved, and I find it strange that Beethoven would be described as "infamous".
Carmel's title also brings to mind Glassmen's 2011 show, My Mortal Beloved, which had a vampire theme. (And included some Beethoven.)
As did Cavaliers' better known 2014 show, Immortal.
Or maybe it will have nothing to do with any of those.
I agree with you that the 2009 film Ai you lai sheng ("Eternal Beloved") is unlikely to be a source.

I like the Grove City selections better than Centerville overall.

We are now only less than 1 month from the first BOA Regional of 2019, and bands are continuing to announce their competitive productions.
If you find out about a group's 2019 production, and care to share, please post it to this thread. Does not have to be a BOA band, I will add it anyway.
I will update this post with the shows as they come in.[... really long and fascinating list ...]
Ohio
Liberty HS- "Made in Ohio" River HS- "Pilot the Ship: A Maiden Voyage Revisited" [...]
This is quite the impressive project! And nice work by whoever found those two shows, from schools whose existence I was unaware of, although upon examination, it appears that not only will neither band be competing in BOA this year, but they won't be competing at all. (I don't mean any disparagement by noting this.) And it looks like River, from the town of Hannibal, hasn't even had a marching band until this year -- or at least they haven't had a band for some time. Their show title is a reference to the band being "newly established" (but there is also a reference to "reinstatements of the band and music programs at the high school level") and to their school mascot: the town is located on the Ohio River and their school team name is the Pilots.

Some more Ohio bands:
Archbishop Alter H.S. - Sherlock
Lebanon H.S. - Ground
Milford H.S. - Paradise Found
Nordonia H.S. - Autumn Leaves
Northmont H.S. - Graveyard
Norton H.S. - En-Trussed
Piqua H.S. - Of Queens and Pawns
South Point H.S. - I Am Shelter
Walnut Hills H.S. - It's About Time Musical Selections: "Short Ride in a Fast Machine" (Adams) "Somewhere in Time" (Barry/Mueller) "Time after Time" (Hyman/Lauper)
Walter E. Stebbins H.S. - The Path Chosen
Warren Local - reCoil
Worthington Kilbourne - Concerto for Mother Earth
From the above list, the one I'm least certain about is Nordonia's show.
I searched for but couldn't find show titles for these Ohio bands scheduled for BOA appearances: Avon, Carroll, Firestone, Hamilton, Logan Elm, Newark, Westland, or Wilmington. I didn't check the sites of these BOA-scheduled bands at all: Ada, Bishop Fenwick, Butler, Carlisle, East Clinton, Fairborn, Forest Hills, Indian Hill, La Salle, Milton-Union, or Tippecanoe.
Some other Ohio bands of interest:
Amherst Steele - Brave New World
Berne Union - Prometheus Musical selection by John Powell, Thomas Bergersen, and Minoru Miki.
Dublin Jerome - Bein' Green
Finneytown - From Darkness into Light Musical Selection: The Old Moon in the New Moon's Arms (Kamen)
(Yes, it's based on Phantom Regiment's 2010 show.) (Recently a poll of some drum corps fans picked that show as the best 6th place DCI show of the 2010s.)
North Royalton - Left Brain / Right Brain
Olentangy - Simply Tin
Perry - Carpe Noctem Musical Selections: "Moonlight Sonata" (Beethoven) Requiem (Verdi) "Clair de Lune" from Suite Bergamasque (Debussy) "In the Hall of the Mountain King" from Peer Gynt (Grieg) Night on Bald Mountain (Mussorgsky)
Some others I checked but couldn't find show info for included Brunswick, Hilliard Darby, Licking Heights, Louisville, Revere, and Sycamore.

No offense meant to any one here or any of these bands, but do we care what every band is doing for a theme? I have never heard of 95% of these bands. Do they do BOA contests? I apologize if that sounded snobby I’m just genuinely curious why all these bands shows are listed. Am I missing something? Educate me if I am!

Well, some people like to hear about more than just Texas / Indiana bands. There are bands beyond the BOA circuit that are talented / well known in different parts of the country, but just don’t participate in the national level as some of the bands we know. At least that’s my perspective on it. I think it’s cool being able to see some of these different show concepts / themes from all the different schools out there!

I apologize if that sounded snobby I’m just genuinely curious why all these bands shows are listed. Am I missing something? Educate me if I am! A few thoughts:
(1) The original post in this thread says: "If you find out about a group's 2019 production, and care to share, please post it to this thread. Does not have to be a BOA band, I will add it anyway."
And to look just to Ohio, for instance: when I first saw this thread, it already included not only bands that aren't competing in BOA, but even bands that aren't competing at all.
(2) Personally, I think it would be awesome if there was a resource that listed all of the thousands of band shows each year -- like what Drum Corps Xperience (formerly CorpsReps) does for drum corps, but more. This is probably not the venue for that! But just having a fairly complete list of 2019 shows from notable bands from each state (a subjective determination, to be sure) is a good thing. Among other reasons: wonderful as BOA performances are, they are not the sum of all high school marching band, and maybe the band fans of the future, whose tastes may be different than ours, will look back and be grateful that someone was paying attention more broadly. And even thinking just of ourselves: on two or three occasions, I've seen some things in shows from a non-BOA bands that turn up later in BOA productions. So the more knowledge we have of what material is out there, the better.
(3) That said, I tried to limit my contributions to this thread to Ohio bands who are competing in BOA this year, who have done so in the past, or who it might be nice to see at BOA. There are about 800 high schools in Ohio, and probably more than 600 high school marching bands, and definitely more than 200 competing high school marching bands, and I think about 50 of those will appear in BOA, but only about 40 Ohio band shows are currently listed under Ohio in the opening thread.

We have 200ish bands in Illinois that compete at least once in Illinois in our long, long season. Maybe 20 bands do BOA. I've gotten so many emails over the years from band parents that they're so happy that we even have one, maybe two pictures of their band. Having a show title (and maybe repertoire) goes a long way.
