Refresh my memory. For semis, are the 22 bands that are grouped together at semis the overall highest scoring 22 regardless of panel, or are they the top 11 from each panel? I feel as this was changed in some way recently.

Now that rumors of Broken Arrow's demise have been proven to be greatly exaggerated... What's your thoughts on their show? Does it have a shot to bring home Kevin? Where do you realistically see them now on finals night?

I feel as this was changed in some way recently. Top 11 from each panel, next 8 regardless of. From the 2024 handbook: Grand National Championships Semi-Finals Performance Schedule The following criteria used to determine Semi-Finals Performance schedule will allow Bands most likely to advance to Finals, and those Bands being considered for a Grand National Class Championship, the best possible performance conditions. Semi-Finals Performance times are established as follows: The 11 highest scoring Bands in each Prelims (22 total), regardless of class, will receive the 22 Performance slots in the middle of Semi-Finals (positions 9-30) according to the Semi-Finals pre-draw. The next 8 highest scoring Bands determined from all remaining scores from Prelims 1 and 2, regardless of class, will receive the first 8 Performance spots (positions 1-8) according to the Semi-Finals pre-draw. The 2 highest scoring Bands from each of the four classes, from each Prelims, should they not already be among the Bands selected based on the criteria above, shall perform after the initial 30 numbered performance spots according to the Semi-Finals pre-draw. In the event a single (1) Class A or single (1) AA Band is included in the “next eight (8)” Performance slots, that/those Band(s) will perform after the 22 “middle of Semi-Finals” Performance slots, amongst the Bands that have advanced based on the class representation criteria according to the Semi-Finals predraw. (14.01, 14.03)

Where do you realistically see them now on finals night? I know for me (even though scores suggests otherwise so what do I know) it is very much Avon's to lose. But I could see a 2-5 combination of: BA Carmel Mason TS

PSA!!!
Whoever out there decides to pull out their phone to record a performance here or at any regional, PLEASE post it on YT! I know there are a lot of people that just let those vids sit unseen forever. If you ever wonder who enjoys watching 20 POVs of the same show, it's me.. I'm those views. Even if you don't have an account on here, I know you're reading this... yes YOU... I'm not asking for you to make an account on here, just post it on YT & I will definitely find it! I'll revisit this once the season starts, just wanted to plant an early seed. Thanks!! Since we're getting close & there are a lot more people frequenting the forums, I'm going to give this a little bump !

Make sure the video is listed is from a long time ago or set to private because BOX 5 or potentially Carmel themselves will flag and take down your videos. I have had multiple YT accounts taken down from not doing this. If you share google drive be careful it isn’t with a BOX5 affiliate because they have taken down one of my drives also so I can’t share it anymore either.

Where do you realistically see them now on finals night? I don’t know about taking Kevin home, but I think they will place 4th or higher. I admit I am a little disappointed in the show design. The kids are performing it very well, but I was expecting more visually. They kind of remind me of Flower Mound (definitely not a bad thing). Their guard is definitely smaller but solid. There may be more to add? Plenty of time to clean, but they look pretty clean now.

Post St. Louis Predictions:
1. Avon, IN 2. Carmel, IN 3. Tarpon Springs, FL 4. Broken Arrow, OK 5. Cedar Park, TX 6. William Mason, OH 7. Bridgeland, TX 8. Prosper, TX 9. Leander, TX 10. O'Fallon Township, IL 11. Castle, IN 12. American Fork, UT
Music: Carmel, IN Visual: Avon, IN GE: Avon, IN ----------------------------- 13. Dobyns-Bennett, TN 14. Brownsburg, IN
-Could definitely see DB or Brownsburg in Finals just have them out for now. -10-14 could easily be rearranged in any order, could see any of those bands at the 10 as well as the 14. -Avon is the clear front runner as of right now. With Carmel and Tarpon being my current favorites to medal as well.

Its a little hard to say right now without san antonio happening, they will be critical for leander and cedar park. I do see bridgeland and prosper in - but I really can't imagine DB out.

i don’t think there’s a better band in the country at cleaning during the last few weeks of the season than DB. You can never ever count them out

Think most people have the B-CAT contingency locked in (Broken Arrow, Carmel, Avon, Tarpon Springs) but I think William Mason and Cedar Park will hold their own.

Cedar Park is great and could absolutely make it to the top 6. But I do think DB and Prosper will have better chances just based on GE.

I really need to look at my notes and see how everyone stacks up, I fear we may see a couple of recent perennial finalists miss this year. While the top half is pretty much set, I can see the bottom half and the next 5 or so bands being an absolute crapshoot and will really depend on which bands can lock in and have a great semis run. Will add my predictions when I get home this evening

I personally would love to see a huge shake up this year for finals at Grand Nats. Would love to see bands people aren’t expecting to make finals actually make it in. We need some bands to come in here and shake things up a bit. Take us by surprise! That would make for the best finals ever.

The semis bubble is large and the finals bubble is especially large. I really thought by this time I’d be able to make a determination on which TX bands are safe for finals, AF, O’Fallon, the Indy bands - to name some. The only bands besides out of the top 5 (Avon Carmel BA Tarpon Mason) im really only willing to call DB and Cedar Park locks. Which really hasn’t changed since summer. It could be a very messy semifinals.

Will add my predictions when I get home this evening Here’s what I’ve decided (I’m probably wrong): 1-2 Avon 1-2 Carmel I can see either one winning and wouldn’t be surprised 3 Broken Arrow They have the best positioning to medal out of the 3-5 range, though I wouldn’t be surprised to see Mason or TS surge 4-5 William Mason 4-5 Tarpon Springs See above. 6 Cedar Park Baring something catastrophic, I doubt we’ll see them out of the top 6 Now we get to where I tried my best but I couldn’t really decide on some. 7-8 Castle 7-8 Brownsburg These two seem to be very close and Castle is having one heck of a season. I could see one or a couple of the other Texas groups passing them though. 9 Leander (could see them as high as 7-8) 10 Dobyns-Bennett ( I’m hesitant but I know they’ll peak when they need to) 11 Prosper (could see them as high as 7-8) 12 Bridgeland (I’m taking y’all’s word on this one 😂) Realistically I can see the bands I put in 7-12 being in any order. I’ll revisit this after semis I’m getting excited for this years GN. This will be my first time attending since 2016, what a year to be able to see. This puts groups like Ofallon, Fishers, AF, and Homestead out unfortunately but any one of these groups could have a stellar performance and make it in.

And then two Class AA bands from Panel 1, because boy, oh boy, does Panel 2 have that covered. I already have Goshen so, I will put Catawba Ridge as the Panel 1 Class AA Rep You question Kiski on the list but not Jenison? Have you looked at their regional scores? Kiski has beat Norwin at every local competition this year and at BOA Delaware. No nationals for Kiski this year, but they would be a FORCE if they went, definitely won the class last year! Obviously Tarpon always wins 2A when they are there. You may not like Kiski but the judges sure do!

Norwin and Jenison are both in Panel 2 and all of the other really good 2A Bands are in Panel 2. I didn't say I was questioning Kiski since they are not going to Nationals. I was clearly talking about Panel 1.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned about Grand Nationals, it’s to never, ever count out Dobyns-Bennett. They have proved me wrong time and time again.
