Just saw a video of Friendswood. They have a super fun show. They remind me a lot of The Woodlands and their whimsical productions - kinda like a baby version of them. Their guard surprised me too! Hoping they can make some noise in Semifinals.

Seems as if Catawba got a handle on pacing their growth & is now peaking late season rather than mid season like last year.

Now that OBA is over, is Broken arrow still in the running for one of the top spots (they scored 93.6) ? Could Jenks make a finals appearance ( they scored a 90.4)? Mustang fell short is there enough time to recover (they scored a 84.775)? I have broken arrow as the dark horse. They made some good changes from STL. If they clean up visually, I would not be surprised to see them as 1st or 2nd.

Yall arent taking into account that union beat Mustang. I dont know why yall are leaving out Union. While Union is having their best season in a while, the battle for finals is too stiff for them to make it over the hump in my opinion. I think they could land solidly in the top 20 though with a good run

Bridgeland is very good, but they’re def not a tier above AF, Leander, ect odd comment, since Bridgeland beat Leander at BOA-San Antonio last year.

Placing above someone in a single comp does not equate being in a "tier above". They're both really strong bands! Being in the same tier as Leander is a great.

odd comment, since Bridgeland beat Leander at BOA-San Antonio last year. OK, but then if you're pointing to a lack of data *this year*, I'm not sure on what basis the previous commenter can make the claim about how good Bridgeland is or isn't relative to Leander or AF, since there's no data from *this year.* I'll concede the point to glmain.

They beat Leander by 0.4 at SA finals last year, that is not a tier above lamb chop

Adam Sage Ted Wemhoff Interesting, 16 music judges and 12 visual judges would staff four full panels. Usually there are just three panels (2 for prelims and 1 for semis) then the finals panel is made up of a combination of judges from the two prelims panels. I wonder if they are going to be doing a brand new panel for finals or trying to do some sort of doubling up GE judges like DCI does.

Adam Sage Ted Wemhoff 16 Music and 12 Visual - sounds like we'll see a Prelims Panel 1, a Prelims Panel 2, a fresh set of eyes and ears for Semifinals, and another fresh set of eyes and ears for Finals. Of course, we can dream - a double panel for Semifinals and the two Prelims panels are a double panel for Finals.

Also of note on the adjudication panels - There is an Assistant Chief Judge. I don't recall seeing this at a BOA event previously.

I feel like I’ve definitely asked this in past year but I don’t remember…anyways:
I decided last minute to make the trip out this year, due to being last minute, the finals seat selection is abysmal. Any other places I can look for tickets? Does anyone ever score good seats on the night of finals after some groups find out they didn’t make it, and parents try to sell tickets? Curious to hear if anyone has any tips or experience with this. Also if anyone’s selling, lmk!

I haven't noticed anyone posting their thoughts on this yet, and I was curious. Who does everyone think will win their class?

That said, I wouldn’t be surprised if Marian Catholic takes Class A. I was very impressed with them at St. Louis.

We were able to move almost to the 40 yard line into seats that were empty. If you don’t mind being high up you can probably score a better seat. 200 & 300 level are usually packed.

I haven't been down for finals since 2019, but I was there a couple of years when we purchased Finals tickets following the semifinals scores/announcements. We got seats in the 600's inside the 40. The sound isn't the best up there but it's actually quite cool for the overall visual. He's a shot from up there:
