The million dollar question....is Lake Park going to make finals? This could be a repeat of the finals rainout of two years ago where they were the last band into finals, or they could just as easily be out of finals. 7th place at DGS this weekend wasn't a great look. Downers Grove South 7. Victor J. Andrew 8. John Hersey 9. Romeoville 10. Galesburg 11. Plainfield North 12. Bloomington 13. Joliet West 14. Eureka It is unfortunate that O'Fallon is not attending. One band I am cheering for (and have no affiliation with the school), is Providence Catholic. They have finished first in their class at every competition they have performed at this year. But there is just not enough slots to get them into Finals.

*insert yearly itching about how even freaking Wisconsin has a "state championship" and Illinois doesn't here.* Could be worse, you could be Ohio... I wonder, if Ohio did have a championship, would that lead to more schools, fewer schools, or no change in the number of schools whose bands compete?

How? It isn’t that difficult to figure out. Trying to quote and reply to only portions of a post, especially those that also quoted another, seems to screw things up. At least for me. That’s fair. I typically don’t do that... I just quote the whole thing. It’s easier, but does add clutter... Sorry in advance! Hahaha.

The million dollar question....is Lake Park going to make finals? This could be a repeat of the finals rainout of two years ago where they were the last band into finals, or they could just as easily be out of finals. 7th place at DGS this weekend wasn't a great look. The other thing...4A could very well be wide open this year. Batavia has had somewhat of a down year, and Hersey got off to a really slow start. Romeoville could win their class here, or slip in on score. This is the most competitive class here, when you add in Rock Island, Pekin AND Elk Grove. (And thank God ISU is FINALLY rotating class order in prelims. Sorry, 1A shouldn't be forced to go first every year.) My predictions: 1A: Eureka 2A: Morton 3A: Duh 4A: Hersey (I guess...) Other 1A-4A Finalists: Bloomington, Dunlap, Romeoville, Rock Island, Batavia. Quite possibly in that order. 5A: Prospect 6A: Lincoln-Way Other 5A-6A Finalists: Lockport, VJA, Downers Grove South, Joliet West, Edwardsville, Plainfield North I think Lincoln-Way will repeat as champions, but Marian will make it close. [br Happy for my aunt’s college friend Clark Anderson & his Romeoville Band! As a huge fan of Lake Park, I am disappointed to not see them in finals. Perhaps if the old format remains, they’d eek in. Congrats to MC on their 40th consecutive class championship. I don’t care who is in that class - 40 years as #1 is damn impressive.

Watched both Jenison and Rockford at the Jenison Invitational last night. My opinion:
Rockford - Great once again. Beautiful sound and tough music that is done extremely well. They should be in the middle 22 again this year
Jenison - All I have to say is them being only .05 behind Homestead in music at Toledo was no lie. Quite the sound from 170 kids. Definitely have the show for semis. Keep an eye on them for a possible 3rd place finish in 2A
Reeths-Puffer was there as well, but they are not attending Nats this year.
