Confirmed: Seven Lakes H.S., TX (their Facebook page) This is the closest thing Texas has to a lock for finals so far. And I'm very here for welcoming them to the Saturday evening show.

I think Seven Lakes and Southlake Carroll both make finals. Have they competed against each other recently? I'm not quite sure who has the better chance.

I definitely think you're in for some surprises from M.J. Johnson. They've been cooking up something amazing and I'm so excited to see them going to nats

This is the most interesting group of Texas bands I've seen at Grand Nationals. None are locks for finals, but all are competitors. Is this the first trip for all four groups?

His opinion is just that Seven Lakes is the most likely finalist among the Texas contingent if only one makes it.

Any realistic chance that Hebron HS attends this year? I think they would have taken it last year if they had gone, and I would love to see them there this year.

One of my highlights at San Antonio last year. Their future is certainly bright

His opinion is just that Seven Lakes is the most likely finalist among the Texas contingent if only one makes it. I'll put me on the spot: "Johnson (Buda) is going to come to GN sometime in the next 2-3 years and make top half of finals" ...I didn't expect to see them THIS soon, so top half might not be where I see them this fall, but if they get in this time and return in 2024... Also, by "closest thing to a lock" I don't mean there's likely to be none or just 1 TX group in. I'm thinking both Seven Lakes and Johnson are in, but SL a bit more comfortable a prediction as they've been consistent in a good design paradigm for longer than Johnson has, though their rise has been meteoric. Probably get 3 TX in. Either SLC or the other as-yet-confirmed-past-finalist

Are we going to be seeing some sitting down and standing up at nationals this year? I'll go out on a limb and say "yes, at least one band's show will include at least one portion of the ensemble sitting at some point in the show."

A Surprising eleven time CBA Class 5A State Champion Confirmation:
Legacy H.S., CO - (BOA Grand Nationals in Indianapolis)
Source: Band Calendar
(2006-2011, 2014-2017, 2021 CBA 5A State Champion)*
I know they competed in BOA before, but I believe this is Legacy first time at GN.

I was only able to find two BOA appearances for Legacy, finishing in 9th at Long Beach 2005 and 19th at St. Louis 2013. This is, indeed, their first time at GN.

Tarpon had their icebreaker today, and apparently it was announced that it would be Johnson City OR Grand Nationals, not both. So that'll be something to wait and see on. I can't imagine it's easy to fundraise for both Macy's and GN as a Florida band so I imagine that's the reason.

If I were them, I'd give the Macy's trip up to do both, but I also think Macy's is wildly overrated for the cost so.

From what I heard Keller was still recovering from their 2018 Macy’s trip until as recently as 2020, it’s definitely one of the most expensive trips for a band

From what I heard Keller was still recovering from their 2018 Macy’s trip until as recently as 2020, it’s definitely one of the most expensive trips for a band I know from experience that it easily costs over a million dollars to send a band (in this case, of ~250 members) to Macy’s.
