Don't know how else to put this, but I feel like Texas would not enjoy PCEP... Yes, I would agree with that but we are in the Midwest baby! We love a fun cheesy show 😜 I'll take a cheesy PCEP show over most Texas any day! #midwestisbest

Don't know how else to put this, but I feel like Texas would not enjoy PCEP... I mean, the Texas crowd ate up Mustang 2019 lol. But I haven’t seen the level of cheese from PCEP this year yet.

Final finals rankings of the night! My quick thoughts on groups I didn't comment on earlier too. If you want to see those, go back to my previous post 😜
1. Homestead 2. Goshen (Coming out this year with a purpose with a nearly complete show) 3. Jenison (Super strong show top to bottom but felt just a little looser than this morning) 4. Rockford (Solid start to the year that just needs a bit of tightening up musically) 5. Beavercreek (Really glad this group continues to grow design and performance wise each year and it is paying off imo) 6. Dublin Coffman (clearly a group I was sleeping on earlier but they are performing really well) 7. PCEP (Love the theme and music but you gotta gotta gotta perform it. I'm a sucker for cheesy fun shows!) 8. Reeths-Puffer 9. Archbishop Alter 10. HSE 11. DeWitt 12. Lake Central
Great job to all these bands tonight! I could really see a number of these placements go any way as this was a remarkably competitive show. The top is certainly going to be closer than people initially suspected I think. We still have over a month to go to GN so tons of time for things to change. I love band!

A huge congratulations to Jenison!!! This ended up being a great and competitive regional at the top. I wish our top 4 would have competed closer together. It’s going to be a big week of change in the top 32!
Also… if you would have told me several years ago that Homestead would win a music caption over a visual caption I would think you were on something!

... 7. Kings, OH (this is a guess) In my experience, Kings usually comes out slow and grows a lot during the season. Last year they did make Finals at this event on Oct. 2, though. Well, I'm sorry for Kings today that this observation proved to be perhaps relevant, although it might bode well for their performances later this fall. By contrast (as I've said before), Beavercreek has tended to come out strong but improve only slightly over the course of a season. (And to be clear: I am a big fan of Beavercreek, particularly their rock and roll shows -- their Rolling Stones show in 2014 and their Muse show in 2017 are among my all-time favorites.) They've made Finals in some early-season regionals in recent years, but this is a better placement and score than I would have expected (and unless they've made huge improvements in the past two weeks, today's result probably means they were underscored at the OMEA Troy competition.)

What a great night for marching band. The top 4 groups were stunning, as was everybody else in finals. Goshen’s show was so intricate and smart visually. Rockford and Homestead just have wonderful warm sounds. I think what put Jenison over the top is just how developed their show seems to be. So many details and complexities that are all being performed at a high level. They will be serious this year come Grand Nats. Huge congrats to all the groups that performed today and go team Michigan!

AWESOME!!!
Congratulations to Jenison. This is their first BOA regional title. They have been a regional finalist almost every year since 1992. So happy to see my fellow competitor have such success. I told y'all I had my eye on them after last week.
Also congrats to Rockford. This was their highest finish at a BOA regional to date.
I am sure Homestead and Goshen made this a tough regional at the top, but excuse us Michiganders as we gloat a bit. In this day and era, it is a big deal for us to have two bands at the top over two strong Indiana bands. Also, this marked the first time in 10 years that Michigan has won a regional title.

Congrats to all! Bummed for Dixie Heights as they were 13th and missed their chance on becoming a BOA Regional Finalist for what I believe would of been the first time in school history.

Unfortunately, there is always someone that has to occupy the 13th placement, whether it be at regionals or nationals. Always tough because you were just that close

So are we gonna talk about Goshen sweeping 3A in prelims and then getting almost 3 pointed by Rockford in finals? How does that even happen? I'm not affiliated with these bands at all but I would be rather angry if I was in their shoes. Regardless of the quality of runs, I feel like this shouldn't happen

While surprising, frankly it is not a novel thing. Ultimately it comes down to the opinions of seven people, how consistent the performance is between prelims and finals, and whether or not other certain groups had a better run in finals. But honestly, mostly the first thing.

To be quite frank, the judging in this regional has been wild by most regional standards. There's been quite a bit of discussion already with the numbers and the consensus was that it's just hard to read anything detailed properly from this regional. The only takeaways are on a pretty macro scale, which one can almost conclusively decide that Goshen is going to push very hard for state finals this year. It's still a bit of a question whether they're a lock, but the odds certainly look significantly better.
