Looked like 90 winds, 20 percussion, 20 guard. I was thinking around 130. Not your typical band that size for sure. I think they were hit with the flu and are down around 40 members. I am not sure of this but I know the flu is hitting our area hard.

I don’t envy the ones that have to whittle down the number of bands from 80 to 14, couldn’t be me👀

Reagan might take the visual caption this weekend. It's clean, aggressive, and covers every square inch of the field.

REAGAN!
The guard/dancers compliments this show so well, features were on point and this show is just effect through the roof.

Reagan has always been one of the best visual programs in the state, and this year's no different. They have a massive color guard/dance team that does a great job spreading the field and creating beautiful visual effects with their costumes, while the drill has some nice complex moments that are really well done. Musically they're a lot more varied in dynamics compared to the other bands that have gone so far, which I think has helped them stand out more in a good way. Another excellent production from them!

Vandegrift was easily the best band so far for me. They march so many performers yet they're still incredibly clean and sound so pristine. Show was not my favorite when I first saw it but it has grown on me so much over the season, especially with the ending. Loved it! It has grown on me as well. I have yet to see Hebron . I love Reagan's show. My fav from Texas so far. With all I have heard, that will probably change when I see Hebron tomorrow. For those that placed Reagan in 7th, you can still change your predictions. lol.

I think Reagan is cursed. They have amazing shows every year, except the year they go to nationals. And back in their first reign (early 2000's) they had some unfortunate results at nationals, too.

I feel the same way about CTJ. Enigmatic and The Forest Through the Trees could have absolutely challenged (if not outright won) a medal.

Great start to the night for Keller ISD!
I can’t help but imagine how these programs would be if the shows were better.

Timber Creek was so much fun!!! Not only was that saxophone soloist having the time of his life, but I also caught multiple kids smiling on the multi-cam throughout. I haven't noticed very many kids smiling today. Kudos to their staff and their culture for allowing this to be an experience that's more FUN than it is high stakes or stressful. I hope they find themselves performing again tomorrow night!!

Good to see there’s a lot of positive vibes in the students, the show itself definitely would contribute to that as they’re amped up to let it all out with that opening hit haha!! Also they’ve already conquered their demon in being the first one out of state however many times in a row by making it last year, and they very comfortably made it in again this year so I’m sure they’re all having a fun time out there now🎉

Reagan not winning in 2003, was beyond crazy. The Reagan production was absolutely fabulous, creative, and came on like gangbusters at the end of the season. But, as the Westfield HS Band Associate Director in 2003, I am so proud of the work our staff and the performance of our students at the first SA Super Regional and Grand Nationals. 2003 was certainly a memorable time for all the Texas bands in Indy. I’m looking forward to so many incredible performances at the Alamodome over the next four days!

CTJ with the best show of the day imo, even with the design not being my cup of tea. Let’s see what Flower Mound has to say about it.

Now I’m just a former TWHS band dad, father of one band director, another in two more years … and still manning the generator for TWHS.
